The alarm went off at 4.30am! Its was still dark outside. Stumbled down the stairs and off in the Jeep, fully loaded with signs, waterproofs, hammers, banners and water. Collected Jim and Tony from Southbourne and then met up with Paul and Caroline at Badbury Rings. Cruised up to henstridge together and arrived at the gate at about 6.50!

Got the main entrance gate set up, with new signage, crash tape and traffic cones.

Banners and warning notices all up. Classic car display area set up, grass runway markers all hammered in to place .... now the so-called waterproof HiTec boots were sodden through!

Time now for a bacon butty and coffee, well almost ....... first classic cars are arriving, with general public, a couple of air movements ..... traders start to arrive, pass holders try running the gate!

Classic car park starts to fill up, Air Cadets arrive and take control of the public car park. More classic cars, and disabled drivers.

Christchurch Cruisers motorcycle club arrives.

At just after 10am the Yakovlevs, based at Henstridge depart for a display in Cleathorpes .....

By 11.30 disabled area is full, and still more to come in.

A very nice Bell helicoper arrives and is the centre of attention for the aircraft enthusiast ....

Henstridge BBQ is ready to go at 12.30. Get staff food sorted, and delivered to the gates.

Air Park closure at 1pm, where is my lunch?

Battle of Britain Memorial Flight arrives from the East at 13.35, spot on time! All three aircraft this year, Lancaster, Hurrican and Spitfire ...

Still wondering where my lunch is?

Airpark cleared and aircraft depart, and find my lunch, a little cold now, but still good.

All too soon the day ends, a scattering of heavy showers, an abundance of fine motors, some great aircraft and a great team to work with.

It has just been confirmed that the entire Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire will be visiting the Wings & Wheels show at Henstridge Airfield this August Bank Holiday Saturday, the 27th August 2011. See the shows page for more details on the event.

Hopefully, weather permitting we will have over 100 classic aircraft visiting and over 100 classic cars arrive at the airfield.

The club met up at Avon Heath Country Park early on Saturday morning. We then cruised off to the new entrance at Ellingham,just north of Ringwood. The entrance road was a little narrow, and the bridge a little rickerty, but we arrived, and as usual the muddy grass was present!

We were told to set up, just the other side of the helicopter!

And we did, the club stand looked great with vans and cars shining, in the rare rays of sunshine.

It wasnt long and the coffee was on and the bacon butties cooking.

The racing wasnt the best from our view point. The water splash was good, but no corners to be seen.

The area of the Motorfair, was huge and not a lot to fill it up. The food was very expensive, but .... the company was great and there were a few jokes.

The driver's record will help you to structure the way you learn to drive. Those who pass their driving test have had, on average, about 47 hours of professional training combined with 20 hours of private practice.

The driver’s record

The driver’s record is a way of helping both you and your driving instructor to:

identify areas where you need to develop your skills and understanding
keep a record of your progress while you learn to drive

It has:

a list of 24 key skills covered in the practical driving test
space for your instructor to fill in as you progress through the five levels shown on the record

You need to:

learn the skill and then practise to get the experience
learn and develop the theory and practical driving at the same time

Practising your driving skills

It’s important to practise what you’ve learned during your lessons. Get together with your instructor and the person who will be helping you to practise and discuss what you need to do.
Try to practise:

on as many types of road as you can
in all sorts of traffic and weather conditions, even in the dark
on dual carriageways where the national speed limit applies - you may be asked to drive on this type of road during your test

Keep a record of any practice you do on different types of road and during different conditions between lessons. This will help you to remember how much practice you’ve had in the different conditions.
You should also record any worries you may have about your driving and then discuss these with your instructor.

Phishing - hints on how to avaid getting it all wrong.

A phishing attempt often arrives as an email, pop-up screen or text message created by criminals to gain personal security information by pretending to be from seemingly authentic companies. They can look very convincing at first glance as they copy branding, styles and logos.

Phishing emails - so named because fraudsters use them to "fish" for information - attempt to entice people to provide sensitive information or take actions that a fraudster can exploit for financial gain or other malicious purposes. Within the message they then urge you to click on a link from an apparently real business that you may have used. From that site they trick you into giving away your personal security information. Some phishing emails even threaten dire consequences if you don't respond.

Top Tips to avoid falling for a phishing scam:

Tip 1
Think before you act - if it sounds suspicious, or too good to be true, it probably is.

Tip 2
Never respond directly to an email request from a company for personal or financial information.
Instead verify the authenticity of the request by using an email or telephone contact that you know is legitimate.

Tip 3
Never go to a web site from a link in an email you suspect to be fraudulent.
Instead enter URLs that you know are legitimate directly into your browser or by using bookmarks you created.

Tip 4
If you unwittingly supply personal or financial information, inform the appropriate institutions immediately.
Banks and credit card companies will work with you to prevent your information from being used against you.

Tip 5
If an apparently legitimate Web site that you have visited before prompts you for a password, enter an incorrect one first. A fraudulent Web site will accept an incorrect password while a legitimate one will not.

Keeping up to date
We live in times of change. Society, technology and the economy all play their part in changing the way we travel. New road signs conveying new messages and in new formats are introduced from time to time, so drivers or riders who passed their driving test a few years ago need to keep up to date or run the risk of failing to understand or comply with recently introduced signs.

Having experience is all very well, but it’s not enough if your knowledge is out of date.

I went to the car this morning .... and the windscreen, side windows and rear screen were covered in ice! So here is the routine:

1. Turn engine on
2. Set heater controls to demist, not forgetting the heated rear window.
3.Get ice scraper and clear all side windows, mirrors and head and tail lights, then clear the windscreen.
4. Turn on wipers to make sure all loose ice and water is removed.
5. Check all windows, do all round observations, signal if neccessary and drive off.

So how do you save money and drive?

Petrol and diesel prices aren't on the slide, so anything we can do to squeeze a few more meters out of each litre is more than welcome.

There are obvious maintenance repairs we can do to maximize our mpg. Keeping your car tuned up, changing your air filter, and keeping your tyres properly inflated all add up to savings at the pump with better mpg.

But did you know that another huge fuel saver won't cost you anything at all?

That's right, it's free, and you can start right now.

This important change involves your everyday driving habits. Believe it or not, the way you act behind the wheel can really affect your gas mileage. Driving really is 90% mind power and 10% physical!

Saving fuel while you drive involves a generally less aggressive demeanor behind the wheel. These easy tips can really make a difference:

Accelerate more gradually. The harder you press the gas pedal the more juice you're pouring down the hole.
Anticipate stops. By looking well ahead, early vision - early decision, you can see a light changing red and take your foot off the gas pedal earlier. By slowing down instead of driving under power, you're burning less fuel.
Drive more slowly on the dual carriageway. We all want to get there fast, but reduce your speed by 5 or 10 miles per hour will save a lot of fuel, and probably won't add much time to your trip.
Change gear earlier. Try changing gear at a lower RPM. The higher your engine revs the more fuel it burns.

You could also try some untested methods like installing a team of gerbils in each tire or cutting holes in the floor of your car for Flintstones' power, but there are no guarantees.

Change your style of driving according to the list above, and you can be guaranteed you'll save money at the pump.

Wet weather. In wet weather, stopping distances will be at least double those required for stopping on dry roads (see Rule 126). This is because your tyres have less grip on the road. In wet weather

In winter check the local weather forecast for warnings of icy or snowy weather. DO NOT drive in these conditions unless your journey is essential. If it is, take great care and allow more time for your journey. Take an emergency kit of de-icer and ice scraper, torch, warm clothing and boots, first aid kit, jump leads and a shovel, together with a warm drink and emergency food in case you get stuck or your vehicle breaks down.

When driving in icy or snowy weather

drive with care, even if the roads have been treated
keep well back from the road user in front as stopping distances can be ten times greater than on dry roads
take care when overtaking vehicles spreading salt or other de-icer, particularly if you are riding a motorcycle or cycle
watch out for snowploughs which may throw out snow on either side. Do not overtake them unless the lane you intend to use has been cleared
be prepared for the road conditions to change over relatively short distances
listen to travel bulletins and take note of variable message signs that may provide information about weather, road and traffic conditions ahead

Drive extremely carefully when the roads are icy. Avoid sudden actions as these could cause loss of control. You should

drive at a slow speed in as high a gear as possible; accelerate and brake very gently
drive particularly slowly on bends where loss of control is more likely. Brake progressively on the straight before you reach a bend. Having slowed down, steer smoothly round the bend, avoiding sudden actions
check your grip on the road surface when there is snow or ice by choosing a safe place to brake gently. If the steering feels unresponsive this may indicate ice and your vehicle losing its grip on the road. When travelling on ice, tyres make virtually no noise

Windy weather

High-sided vehicles are most affected by windy weather, but strong gusts can also blow a car, cyclist, motorcyclist or horse rider off course. This can happen on open stretches of road exposed to strong crosswinds, or when passing bridges or gaps in hedges.

In very windy weather your vehicle may be affected by turbulence created by large vehicles. Motorcyclists are particularly affected, so keep well back from them when they are overtaking a high-sided vehicle.

Fog

Before entering fog check your mirrors then slow down. If the word ‘Fog’ is shown on a roadside signal but the road is clear, be prepared for a bank of fog or drifting patchy fog ahead. Even if it seems to be clearing, you can suddenly find yourself in thick fog.

When driving in fog you should

use your lights as required (see Rule 226)
keep a safe distance behind the vehicle in front. Rear lights can give a false sense of security
be able to pull up well within the distance you can see clearly. This is particularly important on motorways and dual carriageways, as vehicles are travelling faster
use your windscreen wipers and demisters
beware of other drivers not using headlights
not accelerate to get away from a vehicle which is too close behind you
check your mirrors before you slow down. Then use your brakes so that your brake lights warn drivers behind you that you are slowing down
stop in the correct position at a junction with limited visibility and listen for traffic. When you are sure it is safe to emerge, do so positively and do not hesitate in a position that puts you directly in the path of approaching vehicles

Hot weather. Keep your vehicle well ventilated to avoid drowsiness. Be aware that the road surface may become soft or if it rains after a dry spell it may become slippery. These conditions could affect your steering and braking. If you are dazzled by bright sunlight, slow down and if necessary, stop.

The Driving Standards Agency is to stop publishing the multiple choice questions and answers used in theory tests, Road Safety Minister Mike Penning announced today.

This will help to ensure that new drivers learn the principles behind driving theory rather than just learning answers.
The move follows the introduction of independent driving into the driving test and the DSA's decision to stop publishing test routes in October 2010, to make sure the test assesses a learner's ability to drive and not their capacity to memorise routes.

Mike Penning said: “The driving theory test should help to prepare drivers for real life on the road - good driving is not just about vehicle-handling skills, but also about having the knowledge and understanding of safe driving theory.

“No longer publishing these questions and answers will mean that successful candidates will have to understand the theory rather than simply memorising answers.

“I believe that this - along with the other changes we are making to the driving test regime - will lead to better drivers and safer roads.”

In September 2011 DSA will change the format of books and other learning materials available to help people prepare for theory tests. This will take place at the same time as more challenging case studies are introduced to car and motorcycle theory tests.

Then, from 1 January 2012, DSA will create theory tests using questions which will not be published.

Practice questions and answers, not used in theory tests, will still be available to help candidates with revision.

Other companies which publish products containing DSA theory test questions will also no longer have access to the questions used in the tests.

You must replace your driving licence if it has been lost, stolen, defaced or destroyed. You can do this online, by telephone or by post.

You can apply by phone if one or both parts of your photocard licence have been lost or stolen and none of your details have changed. DVLA accepts the following credit or debit cards - MasterCard, Visa, Eurocard or Maestro and the fee is £20.00.

The telephone number is 0300 790 6801, Monday to Friday 8.00 am - 8.30 pm or Saturday 8.00 am - 5.30 pm.

You won’t be able to apply by phone if you are a paper licence holder or if your photo is due to expire or has expired.

You’ll need to:

fill in the D1 ‘application for a driving licence’, available from the DVLA form ordering service or Post Office® branches
include the part of your licence you have if only one part is missing

When to expect your licence

When your licence is issued it’ll have a number of added security features. One of the main differences is a laser engraved black and white photo.

Wings and Wheels Henstridge, August 2010

The weather broke just in time for the 11th staging of this great show. Over 200 classic cars and 65 aircraft arrived for the day.

One of the objectives of the event is to raise awareness and a bit of money for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance based at the airfield.

The special visitor this year was the Battle of Britain's Lancaster.

The sun shone but the wind was marginal for many of our regular visitors, gusts upto 20kts across the main runway.

But what did arrive look wonderful and the visitors to the show had the opportunity to get real close to the aircraft, during the No Fly Time. Will flew his F15, and as a top radio controlled display pilot, gave a supurb display with his model aircraft flying at over 150mph (real speed) across the sky.

All too soon it came time to close the show, but memories will last until next years Wings and Wheels at Henstridge.

What a night ..... the week before the weather had been like November, wet, windy and certainly not condusive to a car show!, Then ... the weather broke and the sun shone. Cars arrived from all corners of the UK, London, Bedford, Kent, Wales and even Manchester.

Cars on their way onto the Quay, it was a bit of a queue!

People are now planning their holidays around this show and it gives them the opportunity to take their American car on holiday too! We met up with friends whom we had not seen for a year, and planned to meet up at Coastview in October.

A very busy weekend

The weekend of the year is here! On friday 27 August we have the American Dreram on Poole Quay. The roads are closed at 6pm and only American Cars are allowed! Last year we nearly brought the town to a standstill .... the show gets better and bigger every year!

Then early on Saturday we leave for Henstridge Wings and Wheels. A great show with a great variety of vintage and classic aircraft and classic and american cars.

So we are hanging on and hoping for a break in this most unseasonal weather to make the weekend a real success.

Hopefully see some of you at one or both shows.

On Monday 16 of August I took and sucessfully passed my Part 3 exam. I am now an Approved Driving Instructor!

It has been the best part of 2 years hard work, and with great support and additional training from KISS Driving School, I am now an ADI.

My thanks to Neil T (even though he is Welsh) and David for all the help and advise that has been put to me.

Now the driving world is my oyster and I will find the pearls hidden within.

I met up with other members of the Pajero Owners Club at SIM Audio in Poole to get air conditioning sorted in the day van and Caroline's Jazz. All done and sorted and both real nice and cold inside!

And then the day was finished off with a DCC BBQ at Hammworthy Beach, Poole. Lots of Dorset Car Club people, and 3 Day Vans. Great food, great company and the sun shone!

And was Frank talking to the Angels with this shot?

Looking forward to this coming week, when I can get back in the Corsa and meet up with the pupils.

What a day!. Left home at about 5.15am and got to Wallop at 7am. It was a bare airfield, but the team got on and did 3000m of fence, marquees up, catering in place and the loos arrived. The car park quickly filled, asnd the aircraft started to arrive through the murk.

By mid-morning all 25 aircraft were in place and the line up was stunning, including Austers, 3 Stearman, 4 varieties of Percival and a leopard moth that was stationed at Middle Wallop all those years ago.

The BBMF Hurrican had to scrub, but the Spitfire came in and did an amazing flypast dispaly. Then is was all ready to go. Aircraft left almost as rapidly as they arrived.

The Army historic flight did a quick twirl and then it was time to put it all away.

I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

5 Top Tips for Eco Driving

When you pass your test, the examiner will give you some info about Eco Driving. So what is Eco Driving? In short it getting more miles for your gallon (or litre!)

Here are 5 top tips that could help you save up to 15% on your fuel bill:

Top Tip No 1: Shift to a higher gear as soon as possible. Driving at lower engine speeds reduces fuel consumption.

Top Tip No 2: Anticipate early .... early vision, early decision. Avoid last minute braking, but taking your foot off the gas early.

Top Tip No 3: Keep a steady speed. Avoid unnecessary acceleration and braking, and its a smoother drive for you and your passengers, my pupils will understand "Don't spill the coffee!"

Top Tip No 4: Cut your speed .... just a bit. Stick to the speed limits, after all they are a limit and not a target! Its simple, the faster you go, the more frequent your visits to the petrol station.

Top Tip No 5: Keep your tyres at the correct pressure. Use a reliable and accurate gauge and check pressure when tyres are cold. Find the pressure details in your owners handbook. Don't forget the spare and refit the plastic valve caps

Dragsters, Custom Cars, Muscle Cars, Tractor Pullers, Custom and Drag Bikes, Monster Trucks, Drifting Cars, Euros, Imports and many more will all be assembled for the ultimate horsepower collection at the Haynes International Motor Museum, Sparkford, Somerset.

The show will include a nostalgia drag collection featuring cars not seen for many years as well as an action packed live arena featuring dragster burnouts & 'cacklefests', drifting demonstrations and much more.

And ...... we will be camping all weekend.

For those who are in the know ... you will know .... is that too many knows (who Knows!!!!) the Chevy gearbox had a bit of a funny turnbefore Coastview last year and slipped a bit in reverse! Well, after much counting of pennies, we decided to change it.

We tried the one from the now passed away Daisy van ..... wrong one.
We got one from Nottingham, assured it was the right one ...... wrong one.
Took the existing one down to Ady in Weymouth to have it rebuilt .... and now I have just got it home and its in the back of the Pajero ... which is running really well now.

So we will be having a DCC Gearbox party tonight, Friday and maybe even Saturday.

Keep an eye out on this Blog and I will say when its all running.

Poole Town Crier talks about Kiss Driving School

What a great day at Poole Park today. KISS Driving School was supporting the Mayors Fair.

Lots of our instructors were there. Neil T "The Dancer", Neil M, Dave, Ade "The Joke Meister", Mark "The Cook" and Chris "The Event".

Our stand built by Chris "The Event" and catered for by Mark "The Cook".

As it was the Mayors Fair we had a couple of special visitors .......

Neil T with the Mayor of Poole.

And .... a couple of visitors who were literally out of this world .....

A great day was had by all, especially the younger members of the audience. Smiles and promises of "we will call you in a couple of years"!

Well done to KISS Dorset who together made a lot of people very happy.

We left home at about 7am, and blocked the road!!!

We all met up at Avaon heath and made our way the short jaunt to Somerley. As we arrived the heavans opened, rain, hail and just about everything else that could be dropped was dropped!

The it stopped and the sun sort of came out.

The club stand was set up, Geoff put up his Gazeebo and all was good.

Rallye Sunseeker Stand Now Full

The stand the Dorset Car Club has booked for Rallye Sunseeker is now full.

Thanks to all who have made the commitment, and sorry to those who couldnt make up their mind, as we only have 8 passes that have now all been allocated.

All attending cars, please bring your own cups / mugs and plates. Freedom, Astronomical and Jako will be bringing burners to heat the water, so please also bring what you like to drink and eat plus a bit. A great big DCC Picnic (Thats the world famous DCC BBQ without the flames!)will be had by all.

Jako, Freedom and Astronomical will be bringing gazeebos, so if you want to sit down, then please bring your own seats!

Flags and banners and anything else to make the club stand look better than anyone elses will be great.

Taz is the official photographer, so any poses (Pete) and nice car / van shots will be more than catered for. Last year Taz and I took over 700 pictures betwween us. 2 or 3 were quite good!

I will be leaving meeting place details on the Facebook events page for your information.

Any problems or you cant go, let me know soonest, and dont forget I do need payment, £10 per car soonest.

The American Dream, Poole Quay

OK here it is, hot off the presses .... The American Dream will be staged at Poole Quay on Friday 27th August 2010.

Usual things apply, no parking on the Quay until the road is closed at 6pm. The quay then needs to be cleared for 9pm.

All vehicles must be road legal and drivers have the appropriate licences.

Any vehicle larger than a 1050's Caddy or new Day Van please call Anne at Poole Tourism on 01202 262 537.

Usual meeting points, if you want, will be at:

McDonalds at Wessex Gate, just off the Holes Bay Relief Road, leaving at 5.50. A slow cruise gets you onto the Quay for 6pm.

Baiter Car Park, the first one with the slip way, leave at 5.50, again to get to the Quay at about 6pm.

Snow Driving!

So, it has snowed. What should you do now?

1. Get equipped

Carrying a few extra items in your car could be helpful in the event of a breakdown. Here are ten essential items:
• Scraper and de-icer, to keep your windows clear.
• Warning triangle, to give some notice to others if you have a problem.
• First aid kit, you never know!
• Reflective clothing and a torch (jackets, armbands and stickers, see and be seen
• Boots, wet shoes are not comfortable
• Jump leads, if the battery dies.
• Food and a warm flask of water, Mmmmmmmm!
• Mobile phone with breakdown firm contact details, make sure you are a member
• Tow rope and shovel
• Blanket, to keep warm.

2. Check your car
1. Check the coolant tank under your car’s bonnet once a week or before long journeys. If the level is below the minimum and maximum marks on the coolant reservoir, it’s too low, and add some more, of the right stuff.
2. Use a rag to remove the cap if hot, and take care not to spill any coolant – it can damage your skin and your car’s paintwork.
3. Refill with a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze – this helps prevent your car’s engine block cracking due to freezing.
4. Anti-freeze testers indicate how much the car temperature can fall before the water will freeze.
5. Check your tyres’ tread depth. The legal requirement is 1.6mm all round the tyre, but at least 3mm will provide better grip in snowy conditions.
6. Make sure the tyres are at the correct preessure, as found in your vehicle handbook.
7. Check for any damage or foreign objects stuck in the tyres.

3. De-ice your windows

Driving with an unclear windscreen could result in a fine of up to £1,000 for restricted vision, so follow these tips to make sure your car is fit to drive:
1. Switch on the engine and turn your heaters up gradually to de-mist the windows.
2. If you have air-conditioning, switch it on (most cars will do this automatically when you turn on the defroster).
3. Brush snow off the windscreen, mirrors and windows.
4. Gently lift the windscreen wipers off the glass and replace to ensure they’re not stuck.
5. Spray de-icer onto the windscreen.
6. Use a scraper to remove frost and ice from the windscreen

Stay near your car when de-icing. Lock your doors, switch the engine off and put the handbrake on. Cars left running and unlocked are more exposed to theft.

Avoid using hot water to de-ice your car – this can refreeze or shatter the glass.

4. Drive safely in snow and ice
1. Check for signs of ice before driving – most modern cars have ice warning lights and temperature gauges. Anything below three degrees centigrade means ice is likely.
2. If conditions are particularly bad, ask yourself whether you need to travel.
3. Stopping distances are ten times longer in snow, so keep manoeuvres gentle. Try and keep to major roads rather than smaller, quiet roads.
4. If your tyres suddenly become quiet, this could be a sign you’re driving on ice, so take great care and slow down.
5. Look out for salt spreaders and snow ploughs. Both flash amber beacons and will drive at less than 40mph. Avoid overtaking unless it’s safe to do so – the grit can chip your car’s paintwork.
6. Avoid revving the engine in thick snow – this could cause the wheels to dig deeper into the snow.
7. Put the car into its highest gear and lightly manoeuvre the car forwards and backwards to slowly creep out of the snow.

5. Avoiding skidding

Skidding is often caused by a combination of poor weather conditions and speeding. To avoid it, make sure you:

• Leave plenty of room between you and the car in front
• Drive slowly and carefully
• Brake steadily before approaching a corner, and well in advance
• Avoid over-steering and accelerating suddenly mid-turn

If your vehicle loses grip while turning, depress the clutch and turn the steering wheel into the direction of the skid. Avoid braking suddenly – this can lock the wheels and prolong the skid.

Some new cars feature ESP which can counter the drivers efforts to regain control. So either leave the ESP off or leave the job of controlling the skid entirely to the ESP.

What to do if you get caught in a snowdrift.

If you get completely stuck in snow, remain in the car and call for help, unless help is visible within 100 yards. It’s a good idea to tie something brightly coloured to your aerial.

In deep snow, avoid pushing a car or shovelling snow.

What to do if you get stuck on ice

Try to drive gently in a higher gear to avoid wheelspin, and avoid harsh braking and acceleration. If you start to skid, gently ease off the accelerator and avoid braking.

If braking is necessary, pump the brakes - don't slam them hard. Try to stop in a safe place and call for help.

Yay! Moving on from the Chevy Day Van (still have it and love it)and the Pajero (and I still have that as well!) I bought a 1997 Ford Ka to learn how to drive a manual car again, as I wanted to become a driving instructor.

The Ka was great, but was a little old and a bit battered (like a Cod) but it got me through the part 2 exam with the DSA (Driving Standards Agency).

I then needed a slightly newer car, and after much searching found a 2006 Corsa 1.3 TD Life. A great little car. After a huge search through the local driving school, I decided to go with KISS. They seemed to offer everything, and the people were great and their method of teaching is superb.

Dorset Car Club has again been asked to form the back drop to the arena with our great cars.

So if you want to be there with your display car, then we will be meeting at McDonalds Wessex Gate, Poole from 6.30 onwards and then we will leave for Canford Park Arena at 7pm, arriving at about 7.15pm.

If you just want to go and see the movie, then the admission is £20 per car on the night.

Wings and Wheels, Henstridge

The day started off a bit cloudy and the cars were the first to arrive, the display area rapidly filled up, rows of cars under a cloud filled heavy sky. A few brave pilots coaxed their little aircraft into the rough sky and arrived safely with us and quickly went to the club house for a warming coffee.

Then just at lunch time .... the sky cleared of clouds and filled with aircraft from all over the south of England .... and beyond!

And then if was off to Hampshire Pageant of Motoring at Romsey!

This is the start of the show season. I missed it last year as the serpantine belt on the van decided to rip itself off the pulleys (and there are a lot of them!).

So this year, Dorset Car Club will be camping for the weekend at the beacon Hill campsite near Upton Poole, and they still have a very limited number of places left. Astronomical, Daisy Van and Freedom will be there!

We willl then be the Can Am Car Club cruise up to Wheels day on Good Friday. We will be leaving Ringwood truck park at 7am on Good Friday morning.

Put a new mount on the the Day Van. With the help of CB 4x4, visit www.4x4cb.com , the mount was sent. But I had to do much cutting, folding and sticking to an old baking tray to make a suitable ground plane. It reminded me of the good old days (back when Am was about) and we used to use metal biscuit tins a ground planes!

Well the SWR is well down, now I just need someone to talk to!

G20 Update.

Finished the taking out of the small (well it was when it started) rust patch under the windscreen. Ended up 5 inches long and an inch wide! Mesh, P38 and kurust seem to ahve done the job. the area has now been sprayed gloss black.

Just waiting for the new screen to arrive, middle of next week hopefully, then screen in, lights on, sound up and away we go.

Never thought I would miss a car that does bugger all to the gallon, is hard to park in british town centers, but I do. Its great and it is as a car should be .... big, in your face and its mine!
